Fate Finder Progress!

Hello Fate Finder Fans!

We want to give you an update on the progress we are making to get Chapter 1 out this year! We've been steadily working (slow and steady wins the race!) and we are exciting to share our goal of releasing the complete version of Chapter 1: Trouble in Paradise out for SuNoFes this year.

To accomplish this goal we have brought on another member to our team. Mey is joining our team as an additional environment artist! The Fate Finder Team grows and we are so happy to have them to help us and share in this process together.

Art Style

Since it has been some time since the demo was released, there have been some big changes over the course of making this game. One of them is the change in art style. Mae, our character artist, has spent this past year developing their style and making their art even better than before (which we did not know was possible!). We are so excited to share the new versions of the sprites with you soon. Overall, they enhance the character's personality and  the aura of each sprite comes across perfectly with each detail.

Chapter 1: Trouble in Paradise

Some sneak peeks on what you'll see in Chapter 1.

New characters:

  • Sakura - Sakura is the client for Chapter 1. She is in her early-30s. Sakura is characterized by her puffy eyes, dark circles, and the way she clutches onto her heart necklace. She is on the verge of being hysterical, but not quite there.  Sakura comes to Moira because she suspects her husband is cheating.
  • Makoto - Makoto is Sakura's husband. He's a busy businessman.
  • and the reveal of a soulmate.

Chapter 1 sets up the tone for the game and what you can expect to experience throughout the rest of it.

Mini-Games

In Chapter 1, you'll be introduced to some of the many reoccurring mini-games in Fate Finder which are based on classic arcade games.

  • Platformer game: This game is important because the prize for completing it successfully will be a clue helpful for the case.
  • Frogger inspired game: This mini-game serves as a means of transportation from Moira's apartment to the client's house or other location.
  • Dig-Dug inspired game: This is a fun mini-game to show off the themes and mythology behind the game.

What's to come in the meantime?

We will post more devlogs in the near future about any progress updates and regarding information on the game such as delving into the myths behind the red string of fate, sneak peeks on new characters, and more to keep you all interested in Fate Finder until the new demo is released.
